  1. Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.

  2. Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

  9. For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees.

  10. Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

  11. Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

  12. And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.

  13. For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.

  14. Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.

  15. Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

  16. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

  17. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

  18. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

  19. Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

  20. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

  21. And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

  22. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

  23. Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.

  24. And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

  25. And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
