  1. To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

  2. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

  3. Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

  4. Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

  5. In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

  6. That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

  7. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

  8. Not of works, lest any man should boast.

  9. ¶ And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

  10. That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;

  11. Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

  12. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

  13. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

  14. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

  15. ¶ Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

  16. That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

  17. Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

  18. And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

  19. To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

  20. ¶ Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

  21. Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

  22. And this will we do, if God permit.

  23. ¶ Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

  24. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

  25. If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
