  1. ¶ And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

  2. But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;

  3. There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

  4. And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.

  7. And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.

  8. ¶ When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

  9. Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

  10. To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

  11. Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

  12. For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

  13. None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

  14. That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

  15. For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

  16. But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

  17. ¶ Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

  18. Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

  19. Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.

  20. Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

  21. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

  22. And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

  23. For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

  24. To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.

  25. Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
