Vnto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest knowe, that the Lord hee is God, and that there is none but he alone.
And they refused his statutes and his couenant, that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies (wherewith he witnessed vnto them) and they followed vanitie, and became vaine, and followed the heathen that were round about them: concerning whome the Lord had charged them, that they should not do like them.
I abhorre it, I shall not liue alway: spare me then, for my dayes are but vanitie.
For hee knoweth vaine men, and seeth iniquitie, and him that vnderstandeth nothing.
Yet vaine man would be wise, though man new borne is like a wilde asse colte.
He beleeueth not that he erreth in vanitie: therefore vanitie shalbe his change.
Who is the Almightie, that we should serue him? and what profit should we haue, if we should pray vnto him?
Why doe the heathen rage, and the people murmure in vaine?
O ye sonnes of men, howe long will yee turne my glory into shame, louing vanitie, and seeking lyes? Selah.
His mouth is full of cursing and deceite and fraude: vnder his tongue is mischiefe and iniquitie.
They speake deceitfully euery one with his neighbour, flattering with their lips, and speake with a double heart.
Euen he that hath innocent handes, and a pure heart: which hath not lift vp his minde vnto vanitie, nor sworne deceitfully.
I haue not hanted with vaine persons, neither kept companie with the dissemblers.
I haue hated them that giue them selues to deceitfull vanities: for I trust in the Lord.
Hee imagineth mischiefe vpon his bed: he setteth himselfe vpon a way, that is not good, and doeth not abhorre euill.
Beholde, thou hast made my dayes as an hand breadth, and mine age as nothing in respect of thee: surely euery man in his best state is altogether vanitie. Selah.
Doubtlesse man walketh in a shadowe, and disquieteth himselfe in vaine: he heapeth vp riches, and cannot tell who shall gather them.
When thou with rebukes doest chastise man for iniquitie, thou as a mothe makest his beautie to consume: surely euery man is vanitie. Selah.
And if hee come to see mee, hee speaketh lies, but his heart heapeth iniquitie within him, and when he commeth foorth, he telleth it.
Giue vs helpe against trouble: for vaine is the helpe of man.
Yet the children of men are vanitie, the chiefe men are lies: to lay them vpon a balance they are altogether lighter then vanitie.
Therefore their daies did hee consume in vanitie, and their yeeres hastily.
The Lord knoweth the thoughtes of man, that they are vanitie.
Turne away mine eies from regarding vanitie, and quicken me in thy way.
