  1. And thou shalt set markes vnto the people rounde about, saying, Take heede to your selues that ye goe not vp the mount, nor touche the border of it: whosoeuer toucheth the mount, shall surely die.

  2. No hand shall touche it, but he shalbe stoned to death, or striken through with darts: whether it be beast or man, he shall not liue: when the horne bloweth long, they shall come vp into the mountaine.

  3. And all the people sawe the thunders, and the lightnings, and the sound of the trumpet, and the mountaine smoking and when the people saw it they fled and stoode afare off,

  4. And sayde vnto Moses, Talke thou with vs, and we will heare: but let not God talke with vs, lest we die.

  5. Then Moses sayde vnto the people, Feare not: for God is come to proue you, and that his feare may be before you, that ye sinne not.

  6. Thou shalt feare the Lord thy God: thou shalt serue him, and thou shalt cleaue vnto him, and shalt sweare by his Name.

  7. He is thy praise, and hee is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes haue seene.

  8. What man is he that feareth the Lord? him wil he teache the way that hee shall chuse.

  9. His soule shall dwell at ease, and his seede shall inherite the land.

  10. The secrete of the Lord is reueiled to them, that feare him: and his couenant to giue them vnderstanding.

  11. In the feare of the Lord is an assured strength, and his children shall haue hope.

  12. The feare of the Lord is as a welspring of life, to auoyde the snares of death.

  13. Then they shall goe into the holes of the rockes, and into the caues of the earth, from before the feare of the Lord, and from the glory of his maiestie, when he shall arise to destroy the earth.

  14. At that day shall man cast away his siluer idoles, and his golden idoles (which they had made themselues to worship them) to the mowles and to the backes,

  15. To goe into the holes of the rockes, and into the toppes of the ragged rockes from before the feare of the Lord, and from the glory of his maiestie, when he shall rise to destroy the earth.

  16. And I wil giue them one heart and one way that they may feare me for euer for ye wealth of them, and of their children after them.

  17. And I wil make an euerlasting couenant with them, that I wil neuer turne away from them to doe them good, but I wil put my feare in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

  18. The nations shall see, and be confounded for all their power: they shall lay their hande vpon their mouth: their eares shall be deafe.

  19. They shall licke the dust like a serpent: they shall mooue out of their holes like wormes: they shalbe afraide of the Lord our God, and shall feare because of thee.

  20. For ye are not come vnto the mount that might be touched, nor vnto burning fire, nor to blacknes and darkenes, and tempest,

  21. Neither vnto the sounde of a trumpet, and the voyce of wordes, which they that heard it, excused themselues, that the word should not be spoken to them any more,

  22. (For they were not able to abide that which was commanded, yea, though a beast touche the mountaine, it shalbe stoned, or thrust through with a dart:

  23. And so terrible was the sight which appeared, that Moses said, I feare and quake.)

  24. But ye are come vnto the mount Sion, and to the citie of the liuing God, the celestiall Hierusalem, and to ye company of innumerable Angels,

  25. And to the assemblie and congregation of the first borne, which are written in heauen, and to God the iudge of all, and to the spirits of iust and perfite men,
