  1. Then he said, I pray thee therfore, father, that thou wouldest sende him to my fathers house,

  2. (For I haue fiue brethren) that he may testifie vnto them, least they also come into this place of torment.

  3. Then Iesus answered, and sayd vnto them, The children of this world marry wiues, and are married.

  4. But they which shalbe counted worthy to enioy that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry wiues, neither are married.

  5. For they can die no more, forasmuch as they are equall vnto the Angels, and are the sonnes of God, since they are the children of the resurrection.

  6. And that the dead shall rise againe, euen Moses shewed it besides the bush, when he said, The Lord is the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob.

  7. For he is not the God of the dead, but of them which liue: for all liue vnto him.

  8. And one of the euill doers, which were hanged, railed on him, saying, If thou be that Christ, saue thy selfe and vs.

  9. But the other answered, and rebuked him, saying, Fearest thou not God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

  10. We are in deede righteously here: for we receiue things worthy of that we haue done: but this man hath done nothing amisse.

  11. And he sayd vnto Iesus, Lord, remember me, when thou commest into thy kingdome.

  12. Then Iesus said vnto him, Verely I say vnto thee, to day shalt thou be with me in Paradise.

  13. Then saide Peter, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart, that thou shouldest lye vnto the holy Ghost, and keepe away part of the price of this possession?

  14. Whiles it remained, appertained it not vnto thee? and after it was solde, was it not in thine owne power? howe is it that thou hast conceiued this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lyed vnto men, but vnto God.

  15. Now when Ananias heard these wordes, he fell downe, and gaue vp the ghost. Then great feare came on all them that heard these things.

  16. And the yong men rose vp, and tooke him vp, and caried him out, and buried him.

  17. And it came to passe about the space of three houres after, that his wife came in, ignorant of that which was done.

  18. And Peter sayd vnto her, Tell me, solde ye the land for so much? And she sayd, Yea, for so much.

  19. Then Peter sayde vnto her, Why haue ye agreed together, to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? beholde, the feete of them which haue buried thine husband, are at the doore, and shall carie thee out.

  20. Then she fell downe straightway at his feete, and yeelded vp the ghost: and the yong men came in, and found her dead, and caried her out, and buried her by her husband.

  21. Howe shall we, that are dead to sinne, liue yet therein?

  22. Knowe ye not, that all we which haue bene baptized into Iesus Christ, haue bene baptized into his death?

  23. We are buried then with him by baptisme into his death, that like as Christ was raysed vp from the dead to the glorie of the Father, so we also should walke in newnesse of life.

  24. For if we be planted with him to the similitude of his death, euen so shall we be to the similitude of his resurrection,

  25. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sinne might be destroied, that henceforth we should not serue sinne.
