  1. These now are the chiefe of the prouince, that dwelt in Ierusalem, but in the cities of Iudah, euery one dwelt in his owne possession in their cities of Israel, the Priestes and the Leuites, and the Nethinims, and the sonnes of Salomons seruants.

  5. And in the dedication of the wall at Ierusalem they sought the Leuites out of all their places to bring them to Ierusalem to keepe the dedication and gladnes, both with thankesgiuings and with songs, cymbales, violes and with harpes.

  6. Then the singers gathered themselues together both from the plaine countrey about Ierusalem, and from the villages of Netophathi,

  7. And from the house of Gilgal, and out of the countreis of Geba, and Azmaueth: for the singers had built them villages round about Ierusalem.

  8. And the same day they offered great sacrifices and reioyced: for God had giuen them great ioy, so that both the women, and the children were ioyfull: and the ioy of Ierusalem was heard farre off.

  9. But in all this time was not I in Ierusalem: for in the two and thirtieth yere of Artahshashte King of Babel, came I vnto the King, and after certaine dayes I obteined of the King.

  10. And when I was come to Ierusalem, I vnderstood the euil that Eliashib had done for Tobiah, in that hee had made him a chamber in the court of the house of God,

  11. In those dayes saw I in Iudah them, that trode wine presses on ye Sabbath, and that brought in sheaues, and which laded asses also with wine, grapes, and figges, and all burdens, and brought them into Ierusalem vpon the Sabbath day: and I protested to them in the day that they sold vitailes.

  12. There dwelt men of Tyrus also therein, which brought fish and all wares, and solde on the Sabbath vnto the children of Iudah euen in Ierusalem.

  13. And when the gates of Ierusalem beganne to be darke before the Sabbath, I commaded to shut the gates, and charged, that they should not be opened til after the Sabbath, and some of my seruants set I at the gates, that there shoulde no burden be brought in on the Sabbath day.

  14. So the chapmen and marchants of al marchandise remained once or twise all night without Ierusalem.

  15. Which had bene caryed away from Ierusalem with the captiuitie that was caryed away with Ieconiah King of Iudah (whom Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel had caryed away)

  16. Bee fauourable vnto Zion for thy good pleasure: builde the walles of Ierusalem.

  17. Out of thy Temple vpon Ierusalem: and Kings shall bring presents vnto thee.

  18. A Psalme committed to Asaph. O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance: thine holy Temple haue they defiled, and made Ierusalem heapes of stones.

  19. Their blood haue they shead like waters rounde about Ierusalem, and there was none to burie them.

  20. That they may declare the Name of the Lord in Zion, and his prayse in Ierusalem,

  21. In the courtes of ye Lords house, euen in the middes of thee, O Ierusalem. Praise ye the Lord.

  24. Pray for the peace of Ierusalem: let them prosper that loue thee.

  25. As the mountaines are about Ierusalem: so is the Lord about his people from henceforth and for euer.
