  1. Then, when concupiscence hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin. But sin, when it is completed, begetteth death.

  2. Do not err, therefore, my dearest brethren.

  11. For, speaking proud words of vanity, they allure by the desires of fleshly riotousness those who for a little while escape, such as converse in error:

  12. You therefore, brethren, knowing these things before, take heed, lest being led aside by the error of the unwise, you fall from your own steadfastness.

  13. For all that is in the world is the concupiscence of the flesh and the concupiscence of the eyes and the pride of life, which is not of the Father but is of the world.

  14. These things have I written to you concerning them that seduce you.

  15. You are of God, little children, and have overcome him. Because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

  16. Be watchful and strengthen the things that remain, which are ready to die. For I find not thy works full before my God.

  17. Have in mind therefore in what manner thou hast received and heard: and observe and do penance: If then thou shalt not watch, I will come to thee as a thief: and thou shalt not know at what hour I will come to thee.

  18. Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I will also keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon the whole world to try them that dwell upon the earth.

  19. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying: Now is come salvation and strength and the kingdom of our God and the power of his Christ: because the accuser of our brethren is cast forth, who accused them before our God day and night.

  20. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of the testimony: and they loved not their lives unto death.

  21. And the dragon was angry against the woman: and went to make war with the rest of her seed, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
