But if that evil servant shall say in his heart: My lord is long a coming:
And shall begin to strike his fellow servants and shall eat and drink with drunkards:
The lord of that servant shall come in a day that he hopeth not and at an hour that he knoweth not:
And shall separate him and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
But at last came also the other virgins, saying: Lord, Lord, open to us.
But he answering said: Amen I say to you, I know you not.
And he thought within himself, saying: What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
And he said: This will I do: I will pull down my barns and will build greater: and into them will I gather all things that are grown to me and my goods.
And I will say to my soul: Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years. Take thy rest: eat, drink, make good cheer.
But God said to him: Thou fool, this night do they require thy soul of thee. And whose shall those things be which thou hast provided?
Strive to enter by the narrow gate: for many, I say to you, shall seek to enter and shall not be able.
But when the master of the house shall be gone in and shall shut the door, you shall begin to stand without; and knock at the door, saying: Lord, open to us. And he answering, shall say to you: I know you not, whence you are.
Then you shall begin to say: We have eaten and drunk in thy presence: and thou hast taught in our streets.
The Pharisee standing, prayed thus with himself: O God, I give thee thanks that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, as also is this publican.
They answered him: We are the seed of Abraham: and we have never been slaves to any man. How sayest thou: You shall be free?
You do the works of your father. They said therefore to him: We are not born of fornication: we have one Father, even God.
For when they shall say: Peace and security; then shall sudden destruction come upon them, as the pains upon her that is with child, and they shall not escape.
And in all seduction of iniquity to them that perish: because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. Therefore God shall send them the operation of error, to believe lying:
That all may be judged who have not believed the truth but have consented to iniquity.
But who art thou that judgest thy neighbour? Behold, now you that say: To-day or to-morrow we will go into such a city, and there we will spend a year and will traffic and make our gain.
Saying: Where is his promise or his coming? For since the time that the fathers slept, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
Because thou sayest: I am rich and made wealthy and have need of nothing: and knowest not that thou art wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.
