  1. Secret things to the Lord our God: things that are manifest, to us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

  2. And after many evils and afflictions shall have come upon them, this canticle shall answer them for a testimony, which no oblivion shall take away out of the mouth of their seed. For I know their thoughts, and what they are about to do this day, before that I bring them into the land which I have promised them.

  3. And the Lord said to Samuel: Look not on his countenance, nor on the height of his stature: because I have rejected him, nor do I judge according to the look of man: for man seeth those things that appear, but the Lord beholdeth the heart.

  4. And what can David say more unto thee? for thou knowest thy servant, O Lord God:

  5. Thy dwelling, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy way I knew before, and thy rage against me.

  6. The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

  7. Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

  8. But thou shalt consider with thy eyes: and shalt see the reward of the wicked.

  9. Treat thy cause with thy friend, and discover not the secret to a stranger:

  10. And all things that are done, God will bring into judgment for every error, whether it be good or evil.

  11. But there is a God in heaven that revealeth mysteries, who hath shewn to thee, O king Nabuchodonosor, what is to come to pass in the latter times. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these:

  12. And the king spoke to Daniel, and said: Verily, your God is the God of gods, and Lord of kings, and a revealer of hidden things: seeing thou couldst discover this secret.

  13. For the Lord God doth nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.

  14. That thy alms may be in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret will repay thee.

  15. But thou when thou shalt pray, enter into thy chamber, and having shut the door, pray to thy Father in secret, and thy father who seeth in secret will repay thee.

  16. But if thy brother shall offend against thee, go, and rebuke him between thee and him alone. If he shall hear thee, thou shalt gain thy brother.

  17. For there is nothing hid, which shall not be made manifest: neither was it made secret, but that it may come abroad.

  18. Now no man lighting a candle covereth it with a vessel or putteth it under a bed: but setteth it upon a candlestick, that they who come in may see the light.

  19. For there is not any thing secret that shall not be made manifest, nor hidden that shall not be known and come abroad.

  20. In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

  21. Therefore, judge not before the time: until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts. And then shall every man have praise from God.

  22. For the word of God is living and effectual and more piercing than any two edged sword; and reaching unto the division of the soul and the spirit, of the joints also and the marrow: and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

  23. Neither is there any creature invisible in his sight: but all things are naked and open to his eyes, to whom our speech is.
