  1. Turn ye at my reproof: behold I will utter my spirit to you, and will shew you my words.

  2. Because I called, and you refused: I stretched out my hand, and there was none that regarded.

  3. You have despised all my counsel, and have neglected my reprehensions.

  4. I also will laugh in your destruction, and will mock when that shall come to you which you feared.

  8. Nor consented to my counsel, but despised all my reproof.

  9. Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, and shall be filled with their own devices.

  10. The turning away of little ones shall kill them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

  11. But he that shall hear me, shall rest without terror, and shall enjoy abundance, without fear of evils.

  12. Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Make your ways and your doings good: and I will dwell with you in this place.

  13. For if you will order well your ways, and your doings: if you will execute judgment between a man and his neighbour,

  14. If so be they will hearken and be converted every one from his evil way; that I may repent me of the evil that I think to do unto them for the wickedness of their doings.

  15. Let Samaria perish, because she hath stirred up her God to bitterness: let them perish by the sword, let their little ones be dashed, and let the women with child be ripped up.

  16. Return, O Israel, to the Lord thy God: for thou hast fallen down by thy iniquity.

  17. Take with you words, and return to the Lord, and say to him: Take away all iniquity, and receive the good: and we will render the calves of our lips.

  18. For thus saith the Lord to the house of Israel: Seek ye me, and you shall live.

  19. But seek not Bethel, and go not into Galgal, neither shall you pass over to Bersabee: for Galgal shall go into captivity, and Bethel shall be unprofitable.

  20. Seek ye the Lord, and live: lest the house of Joseph be burnt with fire, and it shall devour, and there shall be none to quench Bethel.

  21. And saying: Do penance: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
