  1. And the ostrich, and the owl, and the larus, and the hawk according to its kind:

  2. The heron, and the swan, and the stork,

  3. And the cormorant, the porphirion, and the night crow,

  4. The bittern, and the charadrion, every one in their kind: the houp also and the bat.

  5. Every thing that creepeth, and hath little wings, shall be unclean, and shall not be eaten.

  6. All that is clean, you shall eat.

  7. If thou find as thou walkest by the way, a bird's nest in a tree, or on the ground, and the dam sitting upon the young or upon the eggs: thou shalt not take her with her young:

  8. But shalt let her go, keeping the young which thou hast caught: that it may be well with thee, and thou mayst live a long time.

  9. The wing of the ostrich is like the wings of the heron, and of the hawk.

  10. When she leaveth her eggs on the earth, thou perhaps wilt warm them in the dust.

  11. She forgetteth that the foot may tread upon them, or that the beasts of the field may break them.

  12. She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers, she hath laboured in vain, no fear constraining her.

  13. For God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he given her understanding.

  14. When time shall be, she setteth up her wings on high: she scorneth the horse and his rider.

  15. Doth the hawk wax feathered by thy wisdom, spreading her wings to the south?

  16. Will the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest in high places?

  17. She abideth among the rocks, and dwelleth among cragged flints, and stony hills, where there is no access.

  18. From thence she looketh for the prey, and her eyes behold afar off.

  19. Her young ones shall suck up blood: and wheresoever the carcass shall be, she is immediately there.

  20. What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?

  21. Thou hast made him a little less than the angels, thou hast crowned him with glory and honour:

  22. And hast set him over the works of thy hands.

  23. Thou hast subjected all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen: moreover, the beasts also of the fields.

  24. Give glory to the Lord, and call upon his name: declare his deeds among the Gentiles.

  25. Sing to him, yea sing praises to him: relate all his wondrous works.
