  1. My brethren, count it all joy, when you shall fall into divers temptations:

  2. Knowing that the trying of your faith worketh patience

  3. And patience hath a perfect work: that you may be perfect and entire, failing in nothing.

  4. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for, when he hath been proved, he shall receive the crown of life which God hath promised to them that love him.

  5. Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

  6. Be you therefore also patient and strengthen your hearts: for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

  7. Take, my brethren, for example of suffering evil, of labour and patience, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

  8. That the trial of your faith (much more precious than gold which is tried by the fire) may be found unto praise and glory and honour at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

  9. For unto this are you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example that you should follow his steps.

  10. Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth.

  11. Who, when he was reviled, did not revile: when he suffered, he threatened not, but delivered himself to him that judged him unjustly.

  12. Who his own self bore our sins in his body upon the tree: that we, being dead to sins, should live to justice: by whose stripes you were healed.

  13. Dearly beloved, think not strange the burning heat which is to try you: as if some new thing happened to you.

  14. But if you partake of the sufferings of Christ, rejoice that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

  15. If you be reproached for the name of Christ, you shall be blessed: for that which is of the honour, glory and power of God, and that which is his Spirit resteth upon you.

  16. Casting all your care upon him, for he hath care of you.

  17. Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls, your brethren who are in the world.

  18. I know thy tribulation and thy poverty: but thou art rich. And thou art blasphemed by them that say they are Jews and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

  19. Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer. Behold, the devil will cast some of you into prison, that you may be tried: and you shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death: and I will give thee the crown of life.

  20. Be watchful and strengthen the things that remain, which are ready to die. For I find not thy works full before my God.

  21. Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I will also keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon the whole world to try them that dwell upon the earth.

  22. Such as I love, I rebuke and chastise. Be zealous therefore and do penance.

  23. And I said to him: My Lord, thou knowest. And he said to me: These are they who are come out of great tribulation and have washed their robes and have made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

  24. Therefore, they are before the throne of God: and they serve him day and night in his temple. And he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell over them.

  25. They shall no more hunger nor thirst: neither shall the sun fall on them, nor any heat.
