  9. to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

  10. Then Jesus turned to the disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.

  11. For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”

  12. When asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God will not come with observable signs.

  13. Nor will people say, ‘Look, here it is,’ or ‘There it is.’ For you see, the kingdom of God is in your midst.”

  14. From His fullness we have all received grace upon grace.

  15. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

  16. Now they know that everything You have given Me comes from You.

  17. For I have given them the words You gave Me, and they have received them. They knew with certainty that I came from You, and they believed that You sent Me.

  18. And now we proclaim to you the good news: What God promised our fathers

  19. He has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son; today I have become Your Father.’

  20. I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek.

  21. For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

  22. And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

  23. But not all of them welcomed the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?”

  24. Consequently, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

  25. But I ask, did they not hear? Indeed they did: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.”
