  1. On the day that the LORD gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, Joshua spoke to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”

  12. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.

  13. Without speech or language, without a sound to be heard,

  14. their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun.

  15. Like a bridegroom emerging from his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course,

  16. it rises at one end of the heavens and runs its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.

  22. Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by day, who sets in order the moon and stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—the LORD of Hosts is His name:

  23. “Only if this fixed order departed from My presence, declares the LORD, would Israel’s descendants ever cease to be a nation before Me.”

  24. This is what the LORD says: “Only if the heavens above could be measured and the foundations of the earth below searched out would I reject all of Israel’s descendants because of all they have done,” declares the LORD.

  25. When I extinguish you, I will cover the heavens and darken their stars. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light.
