  11. “If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”

  12. Jesus replied, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

  13. “Away from Me, Satan!” Jesus declared. “For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’”

  14. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

  15. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

  16. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

  17. But I tell you not to swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne;

  18. or by the earth, for it is His footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

  19. that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

  20. Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

  21. “Be careful not to perform your righteous acts before men to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

  22. so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

  23. But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

  24. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

  25. So then, this is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.
