  1. Cursed be he that wresteth the justice due to the sojourner, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.

And all Israel, and their elders and officers, and their judges, stood on this side of the ark and on that side before the priests the Levites, that bare the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, as well the sojourner as the home-born; half of them in front of mount Gerizim, and half of them in front of mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of Jehovah had commanded at the first, that they should bless the people of Israel.

  10. Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

  11. learn to do well; seek justice, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

  12. Come now, and let us reason together, saith Jehovah: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

  13. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

  14. but if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of Jehovah hath spoken it.

  15. Say ye of the righteous, that it shall be well with him; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

  16. Behold, the Lord Jehovah will come as a mighty one, and his arm will rule for him: Behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.

  17. He will feed his flock like a shepherd, he will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and will gently lead those that have their young.

  18. And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith Jehovah, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but to hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein;

  19. then shall there enter in by the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and this city shall remain for ever.

  20. And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places round about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the lowland, and from the hill-country, and from the South, bringing burnt-offerings, and sacrifices, and meal-offerings, and frankincense, and bringing sacrifices of thanksgiving, unto the house of Jehovah.

  21. Thus saith Jehovah: Execute ye justice and righteousness, and deliver him that is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence, to the sojourner, the fatherless, nor the widow; neither shed innocent blood in this place.

  22. For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.

  23. Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in heaven.

  24. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

  25. For whosoever would save his life shall lose it: and whosoever shall lose his life for my sake shall find it.
