  1. So Moses wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.

  2. And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of good courage; for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them: and I will be with thee.

  3. Now it came to pass after the death of Moses the servant of Jehovah, that Jehovah spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

  4. Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

  5. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, to you have I given it, as I spake unto Moses.

  6. From the wilderness, and this Lebanon, even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.

  7. There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee; I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

  8. Be strong and of good courage; for thou shalt cause this people to inherit the land which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

  9. Only be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest have good success whithersoever thou goest.

  10. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate thereon day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

  11. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not affrighted, neither be thou dismayed: for Jehovah thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

  12. And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.

  13. For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.

  14. These twelve Jesus sent forth, and charged them, saying, Go not into any way of the Gentiles, and enter not into any city of the Samaritans:

  15. but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

  16. And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

  17. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons: freely ye received, freely give.

  18. Get you no gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses;

  19. no wallet for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the laborer is worthy of his food.

  20. And into whatsoever city or village ye shall enter, search out who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go forth.

  21. And as ye enter into the house, salute it.

  22. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

  23. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, as ye go forth out of that house or that city, shake off the dust of your feet.

  24. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.

  25. Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
