  1. Neither shall he regard the gods of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall magnify himself above all.

  2. Now therefore hear thou the word of Jehovah: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac;

  3. therefore thus saith Jehovah: Thy wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou thyself shalt die in a land that is unclean, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.

  4. Your words have been stout against me, saith Jehovah. Yet ye say, What have we spoken against thee?

  5. Ye have said, It is vain to serve God; and what profit is it that we have kept his charge, and that we have walked mournfully before Jehovah of hosts?

  6. And he also that had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering where thou didst not scatter;

  7. and I was afraid, and went away and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, thou hast thine own.

  8. But his lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I did not scatter;

  9. thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back mine own with interest.

  10. And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads,

  11. and saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself: if thou art the Son of God, come down from the cross.

  12. In like manner also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,

  13. He saved others; himself he cannot save. He is the King of Israel; let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe on him.

  14. He trusteth on God; let him deliver him now, if he desireth him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

  15. And the robbers also that were crucified with him cast upon him the same reproach.

  16. Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why didst thou make me thus?

  17. Or hath not the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?

  18. knowing this first, that in the last days mockers shall come with mockery, walking after their own lusts,

  19. and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for, from the day that the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

  20. For this they wilfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth compacted out of water and amidst water, by the word of God;

  21. that they said to you, In the last time there shall be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts.

  22. These are they who make separations, sensual, having not the Spirit.
