  1. And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

  2. Now when they were departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I tell thee: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

  3. and was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt did I call my son.

  6. and think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

  7. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway from the water: and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon him;

  8. and lo, a voice out of the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

  9. And the tempter came and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.

  10. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

  11. and saith unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and, On their hands they shall bear thee up, Lest haply thou dash thy foot against a stone.

  12. Jesus said unto him, Again it is written, Thou shalt not make trial of the Lord thy God.

  13. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

  14. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

  15. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God.

  16. Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

  17. but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by the heaven, for it is the throne of God;

  18. nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

  19. that ye may be sons of your Father who is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust.

  20. Ye therefore shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

  21. Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

  22. that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.

  23. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thine inner chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.

  24. Be not therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

  25. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
