  1. Their eye hath come out from fat. The imaginations of the heart transgressed;

  2. They do corruptly, And they speak in the wickedness of oppression, From on high they speak.

  3. They have set in the heavens their mouth, And their tongue walketh in the earth.

  4. Therefore do His people return hither, And waters of fulness are wrung out to them.

  12. Only, in slippery places Thou dost set them, Thou hast caused them to fall to desolations.

  13. How have they become a desolation as in a moment, They have been ended--consumed from terrors.

  14. As a dream from awakening, O Lord, In awaking, their image Thou despisest.

  15. For my heart doth show itself violent, And my reins prick themselves,

  16. And I am brutish, and do not know. A beast I have been with Thee.

  17. Even of his neighbour is the poor hated, And those loving the rich are many.

  18. The wealth of the rich is the city of his strength, And as a wall set on high in his own imagination.

  19. With supplications doth the poor speak, And the rich answereth fierce things.

  20. A rich man is wise in his own eyes, And the intelligent poor searcheth him.

  21. There is a painful evil I have seen under the sun: wealth kept for its possessor, for his evil.

  22. And that wealth hath been lost in an evil business, and he hath begotten a son and there is nothing in his hand!

  23. Every man also to whom God hath given wealth and riches, and hath given him power to eat of it, and to accept his portion, and to rejoice in his labour, this is a gift of God.

  24. For he doth not much remember the days of his life, for God is answering through the joy of his heart.

  25. For this I am not propitious to thee, Thy sons have forsaken Me, And are satisfied by that which is not god, I satisfy them, and they commit adultery, And at the house of a harlot They gather themselves together.
