  1. And coming to the house salute it,

  2. and if indeed the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it; and if it be not worthy, let your peace turn back to you.

  3. `And whoever may not receive you nor hear your words, coming forth from that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet,

  4. verily I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.

  5. Then began he to reproach the cities in which were done most of his mighty works, because they did not reform.

  6. `Woe to thee, Chorazin! woe to thee, Bethsaida! because, if in Tyre and Sidon had been done the mighty works that were done in you, long ago in sackcloth and ashes they had reformed;

  7. but I say to you, to Tyre and Sidon it shall be more tolerable in a day of judgment than for you.

  8. `And thou, Capernaum, which unto the heaven wast exalted, unto hades shalt be brought down, because if in Sodom had been done the mighty works that were done in thee, it had remained unto this day;

  9. but I say to you, to the land of Sodom it shall be more tolerable in a day of judgment than to thee.'

  10. for from thy words thou shalt be declared righteous, and from thy words thou shalt be declared unrighteous.'

  11. `Men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it, for they reformed at the proclamation of Jonah, and lo, a greater than Jonah here!

  12. `A queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and lo, a greater than Solomon here!

  13. So that ye testify to yourselves, that ye are sons of them who did murder the prophets;

  14. and ye--ye fill up the measure of your fathers.

  15. `Serpents! brood of vipers! how may ye escape from the judgment of the gehenna?

  16. `Because of this, lo, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes, and of them ye will kill and crucify, and of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and will pursue from city to city;

  17. that on you may come all the righteous blood being poured out on the earth from the blood of Abel the righteous, unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the sanctuary and the altar:

  18. `For--as a man going abroad did call his own servants, and did deliver to them his substance,

  19. and to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his several ability, went abroad immediately.

  20. `And he who did receive the five talents, having gone, wrought with them, and made other five talents;

  21. in like manner also he who received the two, he gained, also he, other two;

  22. and he who did receive the one, having gone away, digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

  23. `And after a long time cometh the lord of those servants, and taketh reckoning with them;

  24. and he who did receive the five talents having come, brought other five talents, saying, `Sir, five talents thou didst deliver to me; lo, other five talents did I gain besides them.

  25. `And his lord said to him, Well done, servant, good and faithful, over a few things thou wast faithful, over many things I will set thee; enter into the joy of thy lord.
