  1. The priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the LORD’s house.

  2. Then spoke Jeremiah to all the princes and to all the people, saying, the LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.

  6. because they have not listened to my words, says the LORD, with which I sent to them my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but you would not hear, says the LORD.

  7. For thus says the LORD, Your hurt is incurable, and your wound grievous.

  8. There is no one to plead your cause, that you may be bound up: you have no healing medicines.

  9. All your lovers have forgotten you; they don’t seek you: for I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased.

  10. Why do you cry for your hurt? Your pain is incurable: for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased, I have done these things to you.

  11. Yes, when I cry, and call for help, he shuts out my prayer.

  12. You have covered yourself with a cloud, so that no prayer can pass through.

  13. But the house of Israel will not listen to you; for they will not listen to me: for all the house of Israel are obstinate and hard-hearted.

  14. Therefore will I also deal in wrath; my eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.

  15. You shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and you shall know that I am the LORD.

  16. and you shall know that I am the LORD: for you have not walked in my statutes, neither have you executed my ordinances, but have done after the ordinances of the nations that are around you.

  17. and tell the people of the land, Thus says the Lord GOD concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and Eretz-Israel: They shall eat their bread with fearfulness, and drink their water in dismay, that her land may be desolate, and all that is therein, because of the violence of all those who dwell therein.

  18. The cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste, and the land shall be a desolation; and you shall know that I am the LORD.

  19. Yet you have not walked in their ways, nor done after their abominations; but, soon you were more corrupt than they in all your ways.

  20. Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and tell them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Is it to inquire of me that you have come? As I live, says the Lord GOD, I will not be inquired of by you.

  21. because they rejected my ordinances, and didn’t walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

  22. and when you offer your gifts, when you make your sons to pass through the fire, do you pollute yourselves with all your idols to this day? and shall I be inquired of by you, house of Israel? As I live, says the Lord GOD, I will not be inquired of by you;

  23. When I tell the wicked, O wicked man, you shall surely die, and you don’t speak to warn the wicked from his way; that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at your hand.

  24. I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace.

  25. I saw a dream which made me afraid; and the thoughts on my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.
