  1. “Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see the good land, which I swore to give to your fathers,

  2. certain base fellows have gone out from your midst, and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods,” which you have not known;

  3. They have dealt corruptly with him. They are not his children, because of their defect. They are a perverse and crooked generation.

  4. He said, “I will hide my face from them. I will see what their end will be; for they are a very perverse generation, children in whom is no faithfulness.

  14. Don’t gather my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloodthirsty men;

  15. Don’t draw me away with the wicked, with the workers of iniquity who speak peace with their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.

  16. There the workers of iniquity are fallen. They are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise.

  17. Don’t fret because of evildoers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness.

  18. But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of the LORD shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish— vanish like smoke.

  19. For the LORD loves justice, and doesn’t forsake his holy ones. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.

  20. As for transgressors, they shall be destroyed together. The future of the wicked shall be cut off.

  21. Then I will teach transgressors your ways. Sinners shall be converted to you.

  22. You, LORD God of Hosts, the God of Israel, rouse yourself to punish the nations. Show no mercy to the wicked traitors. Selah.

  23. For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, full of foaming wine mixed with spices. He pours it out. Indeed the wicked of the earth drink and drink it to its very dregs.

  24. and might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that didn’t make their hearts loyal, whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

  25. The haters of the LORD would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever.
