  1. He appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the LORD’s ark, and to celebrate and to thank and praise the LORD, the God of Israel:

  2. Then on that day David first ordained to give thanks to the LORD, by the hand of Asaph and his brothers.

  3. and to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise in the evening;

  4. Then the princes of the fathers’ households, and the princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers over the king’s work, offered willingly;

  7. Then the people rejoiced, because they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

  8. Therefore David blessed the LORD before all the assembly; and David said, “You are blessed, LORD, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever.

  9. Yours, LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty! For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.

  10. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all; and in your hand is power and might; and it is in your hand to make great, and to give strength to all.

  11. Now therefore, our God, we thank you, and praise your glorious name.

  12. But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.

  13. also the Levites who were the singers, all of them, even Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and their brothers, arrayed in fine linen, with cymbals and stringed instruments and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them one hundred twenty priests sounding with shofars;)

  14. when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the shofars and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying, “For he is good; for his loving kindness endures forever!” then the house was filled with a cloud, even the LORD’s house,

  15. Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites after their divisions, every man according to his service, both the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the camp of the LORD.

  16. and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph, who was the chief to begin the thanksgiving in prayer, and Bakbukiah, the second among his brothers; and Abda the son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.

  17. Then I brought up the princes of Judah on the wall, and appointed two great companies who gave thanks and went in procession. One went on the right hand on the wall toward the dung gate;

  18. So stood the two companies of those who gave thanks in God’s house, and I, and the half of the rulers with me;

  19. Therefore I will give thanks to you, LORD, among the nations, and will sing praises to your name.

  20. Sing praise to the LORD, you holy ones of his. Give thanks to his holy name.

  21. To the end that my heart may sing praise to you, and not be silent. LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

  22. I will give you thanks in the great assembly. I will praise you among many people.

  23. Offer to God the sacrifice of thanksgiving. Pay your vows to the Most High.

  24. I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

  25. We give thanks to you, God. We give thanks, for your Name is near. Men tell about your wondrous works.
