  1. “‘Or if anyone touches any unclean thing, whether it is the carcass of an unclean animal, or the carcass of unclean livestock, or the carcass of unclean creeping things, and it is hidden from him, and he is unclean, then he shall be guilty.

  2. Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, “Draw near, carry your brothers from before the sanctuary out of the camp.”

  3. So they drew near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp, as Moses had said.

  4. “‘By these you will become unclean: whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening.

  5. Whoever carries any part of their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.

  6. “‘Every animal which parts the hoof, and is not cloven-footed, nor chews the cud, is unclean to you. Everyone who touches them shall be unclean.

  7. Whatever goes on its paws, among all animals that go on all fours, they are unclean to you. Whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the evening.

  8. He who carries their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. They are unclean to you.

  9. These are they which are unclean to you among all that creep. Whoever touches them when they are dead, shall be unclean until the evening.

  10. On whatever any of them falls when they are dead, it shall be unclean; whether it is any vessel of wood, or clothing, or skin, or sack, whatever vessel it is, with which any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the evening; then it will be clean.

  11. Every earthen vessel, into which any of them falls, all that is in it shall be unclean, and you shall break it.

  12. All food which may be eaten, that on which water comes, shall be unclean; and all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean.

  13. Everything whereupon part of their carcass falls shall be unclean; whether oven, or range for pots, it shall be broken in pieces: they are unclean, and shall be unclean to you.

  14. Nevertheless a spring or a cistern in which water is gathered shall be clean: but that which touches their carcass shall be unclean.

  15. If part of their carcass falls on any sowing seed which is to be sown, it is clean.

  16. But if water is put on the seed, and part of their carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.

  17. “‘If any animal, of which you may eat, dies; he who touches its carcass shall be unclean until the evening.

  18. He who eats of its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. He also who carries its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.

  19. “‘Whoever of the seed of Aaron is a leper or has an issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he is clean. Whoever touches anything that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose seed goes from him;

  20. the person that touches any such shall be unclean until the evening, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he bathe his body in water.

  21. There were certain men, who were unclean because of the dead body of a man, so that they could not keep the Passover on that day, and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day.

  22. “Say to the children of Israel, ‘If any man of you or of your generations is unclean by reason of a dead body, or is on a journey far away, he shall still keep the Passover to the LORD.

  23. “He who touches the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.

  24. He shall purify himself with water on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean; but if he doesn’t purify himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.

  25. Whoever touches a dead person, the body of a man who has died, and doesn’t purify himself, defiles the LORD’s tabernacle; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel; because the water for impurity was not sprinkled on him, he shall be unclean. His uncleanness is yet on him.
