Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They won’t enter into my rest.”
the covenant which he made with Abraham, his oath to Isaac,
The LORD has sworn to David in truth. He will not turn from it: “I will set the fruit of your body on your throne.
I say, “Keep the king’s command!” because of the oath to God.
The LORD of Hosts has sworn, saying, “Surely, as I have thought, so shall it happen; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:
I have sworn by myself, the word has gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and will not return, that to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall take an oath.
“Hear this, house of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel, and have come out of the waters of Judah; who swear by the LORD’s name, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness
and you shall swear, ‘As the LORD lives,’ in truth, in justice, and in righteousness. The nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.”
Though they say, ‘As the LORD lives;’ surely they swear falsely.”
“How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken me, and sworn by what are no gods. When I had fed them to the full, they committed adultery, and assembled themselves in troops at the prostitutes’ houses.
Behold, you trust in lying words, that can’t profit.
Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods that you have not known,
that I may establish the oath which I swore to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as at this day. Then answered I, and said, Amen, LORD.
It shall happen, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, As the LORD lives; even as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built up in the midst of my people.
But if you will not hear these words, I swear by myself, says the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.
For I have sworn by myself, says the LORD, that Bozrah shall become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all its cities shall be perpetual wastes.
The LORD of Hosts has sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill you with men, as with the canker worm; and they shall lift up a shout against you.

but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;
nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.
But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
