  1. Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers. They also, the magicians of Egypt, did the same thing with their enchantments.

  7. Then Saul said to his servants, “Seek me a woman who has a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her.” His servants said to him, “Behold, there is a woman who has a familiar spirit at Endor.”

  8. Saul disguised himself, and put on other clothing, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, “Please divine to me by the familiar spirit, and bring me up whomever I shall name to you.”

  9. The woman said to him, “Behold, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off those who have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land. Why then do you lay a snare for my life, to cause me to die?”

  10. Saul swore to her by the LORD, saying, “As the LORD lives, no punishment shall happen to you for this thing.”

  11. Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up to you?” He said, “Bring Samuel up for me.”

  12. When the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, “Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul!”

  13. The king said to her, “Don’t be afraid. For what do you see?” The woman said to Saul, “I see a god coming up out of the earth.”

  14. He said to her, “What does he look like?” She said, “An old man comes up. He is covered with a robe.” Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground, and showed respect.

  15. For there will arise false messiahs, and false prophets, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones.

  16. But there was a certain man, Simon by name, who used to practice sorcery in the city, and amazed the people of Samaria, making himself out to be some great one,

  17. to whom they all listened, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is that great power of God.”

  18. They listened to him, because for a long time he had amazed them with his sorceries.

  19. Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be, unless the departure comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction,

  20. even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

  21. and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

  22. Because of this, God sends them a working of error, that they should believe a lie;

  23. that they all might be judged who didn’t believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

  24. He performs great signs, even making fire come down out of the sky to the earth in the sight of people.

  25. He deceives my own people who dwell on the earth because of the signs he was granted to do in front of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast who had the sword wound and lived.
