  1. But now complete the doing also, that as there was the readiness to be willing, so there may be the completion also out of your ability.

  2. For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what you have, not according to what you don’t have.

  4. but for equality. Your abundance at this present time supplies their lack, that their abundance also may become a supply for your lack; that there may be equality.

  6. Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

  7. Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.

  8. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that you, always having all sufficiency in everything, may abound to every good work.

  9. As it is written, “He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor. His righteousness remains forever.”

  10. Now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;

  11. you being enriched in everything to all liberality, which works through us thanksgiving to God.

  12. For this service of giving that you perform not only makes up for lack among the holy ones, but abounds also through many givings of thanks to God;

  13. seeing that through the proof given by this service, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the Good News of Messiah, and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all;

  14. However you did well that you shared in my affliction.

  15. You yourselves also know, you Philippians, that in the beginning of the Good News, when I departed from Macedonia, no assembly shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you only.

  16. For even in Thessalonica you sent once and again to my need.

  17. Charge those who are rich in this present world that they not be haughty, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;

  18. that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

  19. laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life.

  20. What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him?

  21. And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food,

  22. and one of you tells them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled”; and yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it?

  23. But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and closes his heart of compassion against him, how does the love of God remain in him?

  24. My little children, let’s not love in word only, neither with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.
