  1. As it is written, “He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor. His righteousness remains forever.”

  2. Now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;

  3. you being enriched in everything to all liberality, which works through us thanksgiving to God.

  4. For this service of giving that you perform not only makes up for lack among the holy ones, but abounds also through many givings of thanks to God;

  5. seeing that through the proof given by this service, they glorify God for the obedience of your confession to the Good News of Messiah, and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all;

  6. while they themselves also, with supplication on your behalf, yearn for you by reason of the exceeding grace of God in you.

  7. Now thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift!

  8. But I rejoice in the Lord greatly, that now at length you have revived your thought for me; in which you did indeed take thought, but you lacked opportunity.

  9. Not that I speak in respect to lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it.

  10. I know how to be humbled, and I know also how to abound. In everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need.

  11. I can do all things through Messiah, who strengthens me.

  12. However you did well that you shared in my affliction.

  13. You yourselves also know, you Philippians, that in the beginning of the Good News, when I departed from Macedonia, no assembly shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you only.

  14. For even in Thessalonica you sent once and again to my need.

  15. Not that I seek for the gift, but I seek for the fruit that increases to your account.

  16. But I have all things, and abound. I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things that came from you, a sweet-smelling fragrance, an acceptable and well-pleasing sacrifice to God.

  17. And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food,

  18. and one of you tells them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled”; and yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it?
