  1. And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

  2. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

  10. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

  11. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

  12. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

  13. But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

  14. Therefore we were comforted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.

  15. For if I have boasted any thing to him of you, I am not ashamed; but as we spake all things to you in truth, even so our boasting, which I made before Titus, is found a truth.

  16. And his inward affection is more abundant toward you, whilst he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.

  17. ¶ For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

  18. Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.

  19. ¶ They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.

  20. But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.

  21. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

  22. ¶ If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

  23. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

  24. ¶ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

  25. So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
