  1. And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.

  19. At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

  20. And in that day did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:

  21. Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins.

  22. I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

  23. For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.

  24. O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us.
