  1. And when ye come into an house, salute it.

  2. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

  3. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

  4. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

  5. Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

  6. Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

  7. But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

  8. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

  9. But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

  10. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

  11. The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

  12. The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

  13. Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

  14. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

  15. Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

  16. Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

  17. That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

  18. For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

  19. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

  20. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

  21. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

  22. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

  23. After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

  24. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

  25. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
