  1. For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.

  2. For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.

  11. ¶ Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

  12. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

  13. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

  14. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

  15. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

  16. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

  17. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

  18. ¶ Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

  19. O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

  20. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

  21. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

  22. But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

  23. I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

  24. When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

  25. Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
