  1. ¶ A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

  2. Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?

  3. Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?

  4. I counsel thee to keep the king's commandment, and that in regard of the oath of God.

  11. Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

  12. Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

  13. For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

  14. Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

  15. Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

  16. Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?

  17. Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

  18. Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

  19. ¶ All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

  20. But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

  21. But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.

  22. For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;

  23. And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?

  24. But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

  25. Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.
