  1. Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!

  2. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

  3. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

  4. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

  5. No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

  6. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

  7. Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

  8. (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

  9. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

  10. ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

  11. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

  12. ¶ And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,

  13. The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,

  14. And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.

  15. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

  16. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:

  17. And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.

  18. But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

  19. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.

  20. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.

  21. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.

  22. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

  23. And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

  24. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

  25. For many are called, but few are chosen.
