  1. To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

  2. But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

  3. ¶ For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

  4. Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

  5. And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

  6. And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

  7. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

  8. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

  9. And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

  10. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

  11. In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

  12. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

  13. Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

  14. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

  15. Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

  16. Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

  17. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:

  18. How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

  19. ¶ And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

  20. Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;

  21. For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

  22. ¶ For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

  23. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

  24. But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.

  25. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
