  1. And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.

  8. And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.

  9. Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:

  10. It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,

  11. Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?

  12. Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:

  13. How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?

  14. Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.

  15. Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.

  16. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

  17. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

  18. Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

  19. Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

  20. ¶ Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

  21. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

  22. And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

  23. ¶ And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

  24. Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

  25. And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.
