  1. ¶ Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:

  2. ¶ In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.

  3. Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying,

  4. For Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaister upon the boil, and he shall recover.

  5. Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.

  6. ¶ Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts:

  7. Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.

  8. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

  9. That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

  10. That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

  11. That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

  12. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

  13. Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

  14. He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

  15. As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

  16. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

  17. He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

  18. That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

  19. Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

  20. These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

  21. Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

  22. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

  23. And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

  24. Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

  25. And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.
