  1. And the men turned thence and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stoode yet before the Lord.

  2. Then Abraham drewe neere, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?

  3. If there be fiftie righteous within the citie, wilt thou destroy and not spare the place for the fiftie righteous that are therein?

  4. Be it farre from thee from doing this thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be euen as the wicked, be it farre from thee. shall not the Iudge of all the worlde doe right?

  5. And the Lord answered, If I shall finde in Sodom fiftie righteous within the citie, then will I spare all the place for their sakes.

  6. Then Abraham answered and said, Behold nowe, I haue begun to speake vnto my Lord, and I am but dust and ashes.

  7. If there shall lacke fiue of fiftie righteous, wilt thou destroy all the citie for fiue? And he saide, If I finde there fiue and fourtie, I will not destroy it.

  8. And he yet spake to him againe, and saide, What if there shalbe found fourtie there? Then he answered, I will not doe it for fourties sake.

  9. Againe he said, Let not my Lord nowe be angry, that I speake, What if thirtie be founde there? Then he saide, I will not doe it, if I finde thirtie there.

  10. Moreouer he said, Behold, now I haue begonne to speake vnto my Lord, What if twentie be founde there? And he answered, I will not destroy it for twenties sake.

  11. Then he saide, Let not my Lord be nowe angrie, and I will speake but this once, What if tenne be found there? And he answered, I will not destroy it for tennes sake.

  12. Now when Iaakob was left him selfe alone, there wrestled a man with him vnto the breaking of the day.

  13. And he sawe that he could not preuaile against him: therefore he touched the holowe of his thigh, and the holowe of Iaakobs thigh was loosed, as he wrestled with him.

  14. And he saide, Let me goe, for the morning appeareth. Who answered, I will not let thee go except thou blesse me.

  15. Then said he vnto him, What is thy name? And he said, Iaakob.

  16. Then said he, Thy name shalbe called Iaakob no more, but Israel: because thou hast had power with God, thou shalt also preuaile with men.

  17. Then Iaakob demaded, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore now doest thou aske my name? and he blessed him there

  18. Then Peter ful of the holy Ghost, said vnto them, Ye rulers of the people, and Elders of Israel,

  19. For as much as we this day are examined of the good deede done to the impotent man, to wit, by what meanes he is made whole,

  20. Be it knowen vnto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye haue crucified, whome God raised againe from the dead, euen by him doth this man stand here before you, whole.

  21. This is the stone cast aside of you builders which is become the head of the corner.

  22. Neither is there saluation in any other: for among men there is giuen none other Name vnder heauen, whereby we must be saued.

  23. Now when they sawe the boldnes of Peter and Iohn, and vnderstoode that they were vnlearned men and without knowledge, they marueiled, and knew them, that they had bin with Iesus:
