  1. Yet he being merciful forgaue their iniquitie, and destroied them not, but oft times called backe his anger, and did not stirre vp all his wrath.

  2. For he remembered that they were flesh: yea, a winde that passeth and commeth not againe.

  3. Many a time did hee deliuer them, but they prouoked him by their counsels: therefore they were brought downe by their iniquitie.

  4. Yet hee sawe when they were in affliction, and he heard their crie.

  5. And he remembred his couenant towarde them and repented according to the multitude of his mercies,

  6. And gaue them fauour in the sight of all them that lead them captiues.

  7. Yet therefore will the Lord waite, that he may haue mercy vpon you, and therefore wil he be exalted, that hee may haue compassion vpon you: for the Lord is the God of iudgement. Blessed are all they that waite for him.

  8. Surely a people shall dwell in Zion, and in Ierusalem: thou shalt weepe no more: he wil certainly haue mercy vpon thee at the voyce of thy crye: when he heareth thee, he wil answere thee.

  9. And when the Lord hath giuen you the bread of aduersitie, and the water of affliction, thy raine shalbe no more kept backe, but thine eyes shall see thy raine.

  10. And thine eares shall heare a worde behind thee, saying, This is the way, walke ye in it, when thou turnest to the right hand, and when thou turnest to the left.

  11. But though he sende affliction, yet will he haue compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

  12. Therefore I will looke vnto the Lord: I will waite for God my Sauiour: my God will heare me.

  13. Reioyce not against me, O mine enemie: though I fall, I shall arise: when I shall sit in darkenesse, the Lord shalbe a light vnto me.

  14. I will beare the wrath of the Lord because I haue sinned against him, vntill he pleade my cause, and execute iudgement for me: then will he bring me foorth to the light, and I shall see his righteousnesse.

  15. Thus saith the Lord, Though they be quiet, and also many, yet thus shall they be cut off when he shall passe by: though I haue afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
