  1. But he, being merciful, forgave iniquity, and didn’t destroy them. Yes, many times he turned his anger away, and didn’t stir up all his wrath.

  2. He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passes away, and doesn’t come again.

  3. Many times he delivered them, but they were rebellious in their counsel, and were brought low in their iniquity.

  4. Nevertheless he regarded their distress, when he heard their cry.

  5. He remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.

  7. Therefore the LORD will wait, that he may be gracious to you; and therefore he will be exalted, that he may have mercy on you, for the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him.

  8. For the people will dwell in Zion at Jerusalem. You will weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the voice of your cry. When he hears you, he will answer you.

  9. Though the Lord may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers won’t be hidden any more, but your eyes will see your teachers;

  10. and when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way. Walk in it.”

  11. For though he cause grief, yet he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.

  12. But as for me, I will look to the LORD. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me.

  13. Don’t rejoice against me, my enemy. When I fall, I will arise. When I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.

  14. I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my case, and executes judgment for me. He will bring me out to the light. I will see his righteousness.

  15. Thus says the LORD: “Though they be in full strength, and likewise many, even so they will be cut down, and he shall pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.
