  1. For thou indeed givest thanks well: but the other is not edified.

  10. Having therefore such hope, we use much confidence.

  11. If so ye continue in the faith, grounded and settled, and immoveable from the hope of the gospel which you have heard, which is preached in all the creation that is under heaven: whereof I Paul am made a minister.

  12. Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you and fill up those things that are wanting of the sufferings of Christ, in my flesh, for his body, which is the church:

  13. Whereof I am made a minister according to the dispensation of God, which is given me towards you, that I may fulfil the word of God:

  14. The mystery which hath been hidden from ages and generations, but now is manifested to his saints,

  15. To whom God would make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ, in you the hope of glory.

  16. Whom we preach, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

  17. Wherein also I labour, striving according to his working which he worketh in me in power.

  18. For our gospel hath not been unto you in word only, but in power also: and in the Holy Ghost and in much fulness, as you know what manner of men we have been among you for your sakes.

  19. For our exhortation was not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in deceit.

  20. But as we were approved by God that the gospel should be committed to us: even so we speak, not as pleasing men but God, who proveth our hearts.

  21. For neither have we used at any time the speech of flattery, as you know: nor taken an occasion of covetousness (God is witness):

  22. Nor sought we glory of men, neither of you, nor of others.

  23. Whereas we might have been burdensome to you, as the apostles of Christ: but we became little ones in the midst of you, as if a nurse should cherish her children:

  24. So desirous of you, we would gladly impart unto you not only the gospel of God but also our own souls: because you were become most dear unto us.

  25. For you remember, brethren, our labour and toil: working night and day, lest we should be chargeable to any of you, we preached among you the gospel of God.
