Abram therefore said to Lot: Let there be no quarrel, I beseech thee, between me and thee, and between my herdsmen and thy herdsmen: for we are brethren.
Behold the whole land is before thee: depart from me, I pray thee: if thou wilt go to the left hand, I will take the right: if thou choose the right hand, I will pass to the left.
That thou do us no harm, as we on our part have touched nothing of thine, nor have done any thing to hurt thee; but with peace have sent thee away, increased with the blessing of the Lord.
So he sent away his brethren, and at their departing said to them: Be not angry in the way.
I will give peace in your coasts: you shall sleep, and there shall be none to make you afraid. I will take away evil beasts: and the sword shall not pass through your quarters.
And how Mardochai of the race of the Jews, was next after king Assuerus: and great among the Jews, and acceptable to the people of his brethren, seeking the good of his people, and speaking those things which were for the welfare of his seed.
Blessed is the man whom God correcteth: refuse not, therefore, the chastising of the Lord.
But thou shalt have a covenant with the stones of the lands, and the beasts of the earth shall be at peace with thee.
And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle is in peace, and visiting thy beauty, thou shalt not sin.
Shew forth thy wonderful mercies; thou who savest them that trust in thee.
The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of majesty hath thundered, The Lord is upon many waters.
They repaid me evil for good: to the depriving me of my soul.
As a neighbour and as an own brother, so did I please: as one mourning and sorrowful so was I humbled.
For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.
The sun shall not burn thee by day: nor the moon by night.
The Lord keepeth thee from all evil: may the Lord keep thy soul.
¶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
Let them be as grass upon the tops of houses: which withereth before it be plucked up:
A gradual canticle. Behold now bless ye the Lord, all ye servants of the Lord: Who stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God.
He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.
Deceit is in the heart of them that think evil things: but joy followeth them that take counsels of peace.
It is better to be invited to herbs with love, than to a fatted calf with hatred.
