Bible Verses About Contentment

The king said to Barzillai, "Come on across with me, and I will provide for your needs with me in Yerushalayim."

Barzillai said to the king, "How much longer can I live, that I should go up with the king to Yerushalayim?

I am now eighty years old. Can I tell good from bad? Can your servant even taste what he eats or drinks? Can I hear the voice of men and women singing any more? Why should your servant burden my lord the king?

Your servant only wants to cross the Yarden with the king; why should the king reward this so generously?

Please, just let your servant go back and die in my own city, near the grave of my father and mother. But here is your servant Khimham; let him cross with my lord the king; and do for him whatever seems good to you."

I know that there is nothing better for them to do than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live.

Still, the fact that everyone can eat and drink and enjoy the good that results from all his work, is a gift of God.

The purpose of all toil is to fill the mouth, yet the appetite is never satisfied.

What advantage has the wise over the fool, or the person with experience, if he is poor?

Better what the eyes can see than meandering desire. Yet this too is pointless and feeding on wind.

So go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God has already accepted your deeds.

Let your clothing always be white, and never fail to perfume your head.

Enjoy life with the wife you have loved throughout your meaningless life that he has given you under the sun, all the days of your futility; for that is your allotted portion in life and in your labor that you work at under the sun.

Each person should remain in the condition he was in when he was called.

Not that I am saying this to call attention to any need of mine; since, as far as I am concerned, I have learned to be content regardless of circumstances.

I know what it is to be in want, and I know what it is to have more than enough — in everything and in every way I have learned the secret of being full and being hungry, of having abundance and being in need.

Now true religion does bring great riches, but only to those who are content with what they have.

For we have brought nothing into the world; and we can take nothing out of it;

so if we have food and clothing, we will be satisfied with these.
