  1. Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”

  2. When the young man heard this, he went away in sorrow, because he had great wealth.

  3. Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, in the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on His glorious throne, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

  4. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for the sake of My name will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life.

  5. As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples aside and said,

  6. “Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes. They will condemn Him to death

  7. and will deliver Him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. And on the third day He will be raised to life.”

  8. Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it, and built a tower. Then he rented it out to some tenants and went away on a journey.

  9. When the harvest time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his share of the fruit.

  10. But the tenants seized his servants. They beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.

  11. Again, he sent other servants, more than the first group. But the tenants did the same to them.

  12. Finally, he sent his son to them. ‘They will respect my son,’ he said.

  13. But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and take his inheritance.’

  14. So they seized him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.

  15. Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard returns, what will he do to those tenants?”

  16. “He will bring those wretches to a wretched end,” they replied, “and will rent out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him his share of the fruit at harvest time.”

  17. Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?

  18. Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.

  19. He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed.”

  20. When the chief priests and Pharisees heard His parables, they knew that Jesus was speaking about them.

  21. “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son.

  22. He sent his servants to call those he had invited to the banquet, but they refused to come.

  23. Again, he sent other servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner. My oxen and fattened cattle have been killed, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’

  24. But they paid no attention and went away, one to his field, another to his business.

  25. The rest seized his servants, mistreated them, and killed them.
