  1. So in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes, he went up to Jerusalem with some of the Israelites, including priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, and temple servants.

  6. The whole assembly who had returned from exile made booths and lived in them. From the days of Joshua son of Nun until that day, the Israelites had not celebrated like this. And there was great rejoicing.

  7. On the twenty-fourth day of the same month, the Israelites gathered together, fasting and wearing sackcloth, with dust on their heads.

  8. For the Israelites and the Levites are to bring the contributions of grain, new wine, and oil to the storerooms where the articles of the sanctuary are kept and where the ministering priests, the gatekeepers, and the singers stay. Thus we will not neglect the house of our God.”

  9. because they had not met the Israelites with food and water, but had hired Balaam to call down a curse against them (although our God had turned the curse into a blessing).

  10. Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from Zion! When the LORD restores His captive people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad!

  11. May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.

  12. You who fear the LORD, praise Him! All descendants of Jacob, honor Him! All offspring of Israel, revere Him!

  13. Such is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your face, O God of Jacob. Selah

  18. Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come from Zion! When God restores His captive people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad!

  19. Consume them in wrath; consume them till they are no more, so it may be known to the ends of the earth that God rules over Jacob. Selah

  20. But I will proclaim Him forever; I will sing praise to the God of Jacob.

  21. At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both horse and rider lie stunned.

  22. With power You redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah

  23. For He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers to teach to their children,

  24. Therefore the LORD heard and was filled with wrath; so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and His anger flared against Israel,

  25. from tending the ewes He brought him to be shepherd of His people Jacob, of Israel His inheritance.
