  1. See, brethren, lest there shall be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in the falling away from the living God,

  2. looking diligently over lest any one be failing of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up may give trouble, and through this many may be defiled;

  3. Be obedient to those leading you, and be subject, for these do watch for your souls, as about to give account, that with joy they may do this, and not sighing, for this is unprofitable to you.

  10. We have known that every one who hath been begotten of God doth not sin, but he who was begotten of God doth keep himself, and the evil one doth not touch him;

  11. See to yourselves that ye may not lose the things that we wrought, but a full reward may receive;

  12. And ye, beloved, on your most holy faith building yourselves up, in the Holy Spirit praying,

  13. yourselves in the love of God keep ye, waiting for the kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ--to life age-during;

  14. become watching, and strengthen the rest of the things that are about to die, for I have not found thy works fulfilled before God.

  15. `Remember, then, how thou hast received, and heard, and be keeping, and reform: if, then, thou mayest not watch, I will come upon thee as a thief, and thou mayest not know what hour I will come upon thee.

  16. Lo, I come quickly, be holding fast that which thou hast, that no one may receive thy crown.
