  1. At morning I cut off all the wicked of the land, To cut off from the city of Jehovah All the workers of iniquity!

  9. Thou art not united with them in burial, For thy land thou hast destroyed, Thy people thou hast slain, Not named to the age is the seed of evil doers.

  10. Woe to apostate sons, The affirmation of Jehovah! To do counsel, and not from Me, And to spread out a covering, and not of My spirit, So as to add sin to sin.

  11. That a rebellious people is this, sons--liars, Sons not willing to hear the law of Jehovah.

  12. Against whom do ye sport yourselves? Against whom enlarge ye the mouth? Prolong ye the tongue? Are not ye children of transgression? a false seed?

  13. I have spread out My hands all the day Unto an apostate people, Who are going in the way not good after their own thoughts.

  14. What--dost thou make pleasing thy ways to seek love? Therefore even the wicked thou hast taught thy ways.

  15. For my people are foolish, me they have not known, Foolish sons are they, yea, they are not intelligent, Wise are they to do evil, And to do good they have not known.

  16. All of them are turned aside by apostates, Walking slanderously--brass and iron, All of them are corrupters.

  17. And the sons are brazen-faced and hard-hearted to whom I am sending thee, and thou hast said unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah:

  18. and they--whether they hear, or whether they forbear, for a rebellious house they are --have known that a prophet hath been in their midst.

  19. `And thou, son of man, hear that which I am speaking unto thee: Thou art not rebellious like the rebellious house, open thy mouth, and eat that which I am giving unto thee.'

  20. `Son of man, in the midst of the rebellious house thou art dwelling, that have eyes to see, and they have not seen; ears they have to hear, and they have not heard; for a rebellious house are they.

  21. From the days of Gibeah thou hast sinned, O Israel, There they have stood, Not overtake them in Gibeah doth battle, Because of sons of perverseness.

  22. And having seen many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming about his baptism, he said to them, `Brood of vipers! who did shew you to flee from the coming wrath?

  23. `Brood of vipers! how are ye able to speak good things--being evil? for out of the abundance of the heart doth the mouth speak.

  24. And he answering said to them, `A generation, evil and adulterous, doth seek a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet;

  25. then doth it go, and take with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself, and having gone in they dwell there, and the last of that man doth become worse than the first; so shall it be also to this evil generation.'
