  8. Then the children of Judah drew near to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know the thing that the LORD spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh Barnea.

  9. I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land. I brought him word again as it was in my heart.

  10. Nevertheless, my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed the LORD my God.

  11. Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where you walked shall be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God.’

  12. “Now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as he spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that the LORD spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. Now, behold, I am eighty-five years old, today.

  13. As yet I am as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now for war, to go out and to come in.

  14. Now therefore give me this hill country, of which the LORD spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and great and fortified cities. It may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as the LORD spoke.”

  15. Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.

  16. Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day; because he wholly followed the LORD, the God of Israel.

  17. and said to them, “You have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have listened to my voice in all that I commanded you.

  18. The people said to Joshua, “We will serve the LORD our God, and we will listen to his voice.”

  19. If you will walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.”

  20. For he joined with the LORD; he didn’t depart from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.

  21. neither will I cause the feet of Israel to wander any more out of the land which I gave their fathers, if only they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.”

  22. and said, “I beg you, LORD, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness with those who love him and keep his commandments:

  23. but his delight is in the LORD’s law. On his Torah he meditates day and night.

  24. As soon as they hear of me they shall obey me. The foreigners shall submit themselves to me.

  25. All the paths of the LORD are loving kindness and truth to such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
